How can I make sure my CD's and DVD's will last?

FOLLOW THE TIPS BELOW TO ENSURE LONGEVITY:

	Never write on the top of a disc with a pencil of ballpoint pen.
	Avoid temperature and humidity extremes and large variations.
	Avoid flexing, bending or scratching, and bringing the disc in contact with dirt, dust, bright lights, and chemicals.
	Store in a jewel case, vertically. (Did you know that the little clip in the middle of the jewel case actually holds the disc away from both sides of the case so the two sides of the disc only contact air?)

Assuming a good initial recording and proper care, consumer-grade media can last from one to ten years. Professional or industrial-grade media should last from 50 to 100 years. True archival-grade media, often with a reflective layer of gold, can last 100 to 200 years.
