Prints from B&W Negatives

We make prints from all types of negatives. We can easily work from 35mm, 120/220 medium format (645, 6x6, 6x7 and 6x9) black and white negative sizes, as well as many of the older types and sheet films as well. We print our photographs on RA-4 chemical process photo paper, not inkjet, so our print will have the traditional look and feel of real photographs, and the longevity of real photographs, because they are real photographs!

We can make any prints from tiny locket sized photos, to 4x6 proofs, 5x7 and 8x10 size enlargement and even posters up to 12x18, 20x30 and 30x40 sizes. These are not all the sizes, but just a few we can make. Do you need a custom sized print let us know what size. We do that too!

KODAK RA4 Chemical Process Papers provide exceptional image stability. Whether your store your prints in albums, shoeboxes, or frames, advanced emulsion technology ensures the bright, sharp colors of KODAK Papers will last for generations. The thicker paper base of Royal Generations will withstand handling and will not bend or dog-ear as readily as less expensive, thinner papers. Kodak claims these papers have a 200 year "cool, dry and dark storage life" Sorry, we do not print black and white prints on fiber based paper.

Paper Types

These papers types are available from all enlargements made from any negatives.

Glossy F the traditional "shiny" print surface.

  • Best for rich blacks and sharpness.
  • Poor if you are handling the prints since they will show fingerprints.

Matte N Surface a pearl or flat surface.

  • Best for when you are handling prints and fingerprints may be a problem.
  • Bad because it may make prints look less sharp, not as likely to stick to glass or have Newton rings when framed.

Luster E surface the traditional surface used for wedding and portraits.

  • Professionals favor this paper because the back has a copyright protection warning.
  • Bad because it may decrease the sharpness of a print, and you will need to give copyright releases if you share prints with others.

Do you have bad hair, closed eyes or other defects in your photos?

We can digitally remove those imperfections and give you photographs(genuine photographic, chemical process paper photographs) of your corrected images. Plus if you need reprints the corrected images can be saved on a CD for use later instead of having all the work done again (and paying for it). Prices are reasonable.

We like Black and White prints to look like black and white should look. Black blacks, clean whites and a variety of mid-tones. We try to make any Black and White prints to look good, not a flat grey print with little tonal separation.
